Kartografisch
Tijdschrift
From 1983-1995 Ferjan
Ormeling was chief editor of the dutch cartography journal Kartografisch
Tijdschrift , since 1997 he is co-editor, and since 1998 chief editor
again. In the past he initiated the series of papers on nation-wide cartographic
databases as well as the series on map use.
Interesting new sections
of the journal are
- Maps in the street
(showing cartographic artefacts in the streetscape) and
- Map Reconstruction,
showing bad maps published in the Media, and their reconstructed images.
- Maps on money (highlighting
cartographic aspects of coins and banknotes) still has to be realised.
- In 2003 the journal
merged with Geodesia to form "Geo-Info", of which he is one
of the editors.
He also initiated
the accompanying monograph series, NVK
Publikatiereeks, of which 30 issues have been published since 1991.
